Weekly Newsletter for March 5- 9,
2018
We will begin a new Unit in Reading
focusing on changes. For our first
story, “A Place to Play,” we will be discussing how places change. We will also be re-visiting the skill of sequencing
throughout this story.
Our focus phonics skills for this
story are vowel sounds of y and syllable pattern cv. Our spelling words are: my, by, try, sunny,
handy, fly, cry, lucky, silly and puppy. Our challenge words for this story
include: “things” and “always.”
In Math, we will continue to compare
and order numbers to 100. Key vocabulary
we will be using include: more, less,
greater than, and less than.
March 5- March 9th is
Newspaper in Education week! Read at
Home Challenge papers were sent home today in your child’s Friday Folder. If you are interested in participating,
please return the paper by Monday, March 12th. Your child’s name will be published in the
Republican & Herald at a later date. To go along with Newspaper in
Education week, I have submitted an “ad” to the Republican & Herald. This ad will be placed in the classified
section of the newspaper sometime this week!

I am happy to report that our class
has won another BINGO on our 100s chart for TEAMWORK! As a reward for working together, we will be
creating/ designing a puzzle! J Keep up the amazing job, first grade!

*Spring pictures will be taken
today! It is also PBIS reward day! J
