Week of December 4- 8, 2017

Weekly Newsletter for December 4- December 8, 2017

We are finishing our story, “Animal Park” where we have been discussing what we can learn from observing animals in the wild!  As a class, we have also been identifying the cause and effect in a story!  Our test for this story will be Tuesday, December 5th!

Our phonics skills for this story are the short u sound and final consonant blends.  Our spelling words are: crust, bump, jump, must, just, dust, trust, dusk, hunt, and lump.  Our challenge words are: “many” and “into.” The test for our spelling words will be Tuesday, December 5th

In Math, we have been discussing strategies we can use to find addition facts!  Currently, students have been working on doubles, doubles +1, and doubles +2.  To find the doubles plus facts, we are circling the smaller number, finding that doubles fact and then adding.  For example: 5 + 6 = ?, we will complete 5+5+10, 10+1=11, so 5+6=11.

Our schedule this upcoming week:

Monday (12/4)- Day 4- Library
Tuesday (12/5)- Day 5- Gym
Wednesday (12/6)- Day 6- Music
*We will be Holiday Shopping this day!
Thursday (12/7)- Day 7- Computers
