Weekly Newsletter for
September 25-29, 2017
This week, our students will be focusing on the AR
in the S.P.AR.T.Y rules. We will
be discussing ways we can Act
Responsible in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria and at recess.
Our spelling words for the story are: six, lip,
in, wig, it, did, mix, sit, pin and fix.
Our challenge words are: “she” and “take.” Our focus phonics skill for this story is the
short I sound.
For our story Pig in a Wig, we will be identifying
the story elements of characters and setting.
We will also be discussing who helps animals and how we can help
animals!
In Math, we are beginning to introduce subtraction
or “take away.” This week we will be
looking at finding the missing parts of numbers, as well as, learning how to
write a subtraction sentence! Listen for
key vocabulary terms such as: minus sign, equal sign, difference, and
subtraction sentence!
As our month of September comes to a close, please
remember to continue to read for our Accelerated Reader (AR) program! Also, it is very important to track your
reading on your AR log in your OWL folder.
Our September AR logs will be collected on Monday, October 2nd! A new October AR log will be sent home that
day as well!
