Weekly Newsletter for December
11-15, 2017
We have started a new unit in
Reading! In this unit we will be
focusing on communities! For our first
story, “A Big Fish for Max” we will be discussing different things that
families can do together. Our class will
also be practicing sequencing events!
Key words for sequencing are: first, then, next, and finally.
Our phonics skills for this story are consonant
digraphs sh and th and vowel sound “al.”
Our spelling words are: fish, then, shut, with, rush, shell, shop,
trash, thin, and ship. Our challenge
words are: “want” and “good.”
In Math, we are continuing to discuss
strategies that can be used to find addition facts! Recently, we have been identifying doubles,
doubles +1, doubles +2, or completing the ten frame with our addends! Our test for Topic 5 will be Wednesday,
December 13th!
On Friday, report cards were sent home! Along with the report card you received a
copy of your child’s results for the OLSAT that was given by our guidance counselor,
Mrs. Hull. Attached to our newsletter is
a note from Mrs. Hull explaining the OLSAT.
Please continue to read with your
child and log their reading on the December AR reading log! December AR reading logs will be collected on
Thursday, December 21st.
