Week of January 29- February 2, 2018

Weekly Newsletter for January 29- February 2, 2018

In Reading, we are beginning the story, “The Big Circle.”  Our question we will be discussing is, “How do animal communities work together to survive?”  Throughout the story, we will also be working on sequencing.

Our phonics skills for this story are the long O sound and contractions.  Our spelling words include home, hope, rose, woke, those, bone, hose, joke, rode and stone.  Our challenge words are “there” and “together.”

In Math, we are continuing to discuss number patterns to 120.  Our test for  Topic 7 will be early next week!

January AR papers will be collected on Wednesday, January 31st!  Please continue to work on AR reading at home with your child!  This is an excellent way to build fluency and comprehension! J

On Friday, February 9th we will be having our Valentine’s Day party!  Students may bring in valentines/ treats for each student in our class if you wish!  There are 22 students total in our class!  I will be sending home a class list with your child in their Friday Folders this week!

Boosterthon has come to a close with our Fun Run on Friday!  The students had such a good time learning the 6 virtues needed to be a true hero!  Not only did we have a great time with the Fun Run, but our class earned a glow dance party with Mermaid Molly and Rocket Ronnie on Thursday for having the most new pledges that evening!  Thank you so much for all your support of this fundraiser!
