Weekly Newsletter for January
15-19, 2018
We
will be starting a new story in Reading, “Who Works Here?” Our class will be discussing who works in our
community to make it a nicer place.
Our
phonics skills for this story are the Long I sound and digraphs wh, ch, tch,
and ph. Our spelling words for this
story are: like, ride, smile, time, white, bike, dime, hide, ice, and
kite. Our challenge words for this story
are “who” and “work.”
In
Math, we will take our Topic 6 test tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th. In Topic 7, we talk about what number
patterns there are when counting to 120.
Our key vocabulary for Topic 7 includes: skip counting, column
and row.
This
week we will begin Boosterthon! Our
kick-off pep rally is tomorrow and we are very excited to begin learning the
“six virtues of becoming a true hero.”
Our fun-run will take place next Thursday!
Scholastic Book
Orders are due Friday, January 19th. You may order online by using our class code:
MJJ8J or you may send in the book
order with a check (Scholastic INC.)
As
a class, we love to read and listen to stories!
It is very important that kids hear fluent reading and activate
comprehension strategies. One way we can
practice these skills is by having guest readers come into our classroom! If any parent/ grandparent/ guardian would
like to come into our class, please let me know by writing me a note, email or
Class Dojo message!
