Weekly Newsletter for November
20-24, 2017
In our new story, “Animal
Park,” our question is “what can we learn from wild animals by watching them?” As a class we will also be discussing cause
and effect.
Our phonics skills
for this story are the short u sound and final consonant blends. Our spelling words are: crust, bump, jump,
must, just, dust, trust, dusk, hunt, and lump.
Our challenge words are: “many” and “into.”
We will be taking our
Topic 4 test today! Tomorrow we will
begin Topic 5: Addition Facts to 20.
Please continue to practice the math fact flash cards that can be found
in your child’s OWL folder! We will
continue to add cards to the envelope periodically so please be sure to return
the envelope daily!
With our month of
November winding down, please continue to read with your child and document their
reading on their AR paper! Those that
complete their November AR paper will receive a Pizza Hunt coupon for a free
personal size pizza. Remember if your
child is reading a chapter book, you can break that chapter book into multiple
spaces! Another great resource for the
AR reading log are the decodable readers!
These readers reinforce the phonics skills we are focusing on in
class! November AR reading logs will be
collected Thursday, November 30th.
Our November PBIS
reward will be on Wednesday, November 22nd! Part of our reward that day is game day! Students are allowed to bring in an electronic
device this day with your permission! Please be sure that devices are charged and
that all games are school appropriate!
