Weekly Newsletter for November
13-17, 2017
Our focus question
for our story, Get the Egg, is “what wild animals live in our
neighborhood?” Students have really
enjoyed talking about animals that they see in the wild! We are also discussing the main idea of a
passage and supporting details. Our test
for this story will be Friday, November 17th.
Our focus phonics
skills for this story are short e and consonant blends. Our spelling words for this story are: men,
red, step, ten, net, leg, jet, sled, wet, bed.
The challenge words are: “saw” and “your.” Please continue to work on these words
nightly with your child! The test for
these spelling words will be Friday, November 17th.
In Math, we are
continuing to discuss strategies that we can use to find addition and
subtraction facts! We have learned that
addition and subtraction facts can be written two ways, “up and down OR side to
side!” In the coming weeks, I will be
sending home an envelope with your child that will contain addition and
subtraction flash cards. Please practice
these flash cards with your child! It is
important that these facts become automatic!
Our Topic 4 test will be Monday, November 20th!
I am going to begin
to send home Scholastic Book Order forms each month! If you are interested in ordering, please
either send in a check (made payable to Scholastic Inc.) with the book order
slip, or you may order online using our class code: MJJ8J. Our orders for
November are due by Friday, November 17th.
I am also so proud to
say that our class has won another “BINGO”’ on our 100’s chart for TEAMWORK! J As a reward, we will be having a stuffed
animal day! Kiddos are invited to bring
a stuffed animal with them to school this Friday, November 17th. Please be sure that this stuffed animal can
fit into their book bag!
With cold and flu
season among us, we are in need of tissues and hand sanitizer to
keep those germs away! If you are
willing to donate these items to our classroom, we would really appreciate it! J
