Week of October 28- November 1, 2019

Weekly Newsletter for October 28- November 1, 2019

We will begin our new story, “Get the Egg!”  Throughout this story we will discuss which wild animals live in our neighborhoods.  We will continue to work on identifying the main idea of a story with supporting details.  Our high frequency words for this story are: saw, tree, your and small.

Our focus phonics skills for this story are short e and initial consonant blends.  The spelling words for this story are: men, red, step, ten, net, leg, jet, sled, wet and bed.  Our challenge words are “saw” and “your.”

In Math this week, we will work on identifying the part we know and the missing addend!  We will also discuss comparing two groups of objects and creating a number sentence!  Our test for Unit 2 will be early next week!

This Thursday, October 31st, we will be having our annual Halloween parade and treat in our classroom.  An important paper was sent home in our Friday Folders outlining the guidelines.  Please send your child’s costume in a bag labeled with their name on Thursday, October 31st!

Thursday is also the end of the month of October.  I will be collecting reading logs on that day!  Please be sure to list all books that the students read for that month!  Students who completed 10 entries will receive a prize!  Thank you for continued support!
