Weekly Newsletter for January 14-
18, 2019
In Reading, we will
begin our new story, “The Farmer in the Hat.”
We will discuss how a school is a community as well as revisit the skill
of cause and effect. Our high frequency
words for this story are: could, be, old, paper, of, and horse.
Our focus phonics skills are the
long a sound and consonants c/s/ and g /j/. Our spelling words are face, made, age, safe, make, take, cage, cake,
late, and name. Our challenge words are “could”
and “old.”
In Math, we will continue to focus
on place value! This week, we will work
on building numbers with tens and ones as well as showing different ways to
show a number (digit, tens and ones, written form and expanded form).
In your child’s B.E.E. folder, you
will see a “Math Fact” envelope. We have
been working VERY hard on our math facts.
Students will continue to add flashcards to their envelope. Please continue to practice these facts with
your child at home!
