Weekly Newsletter for May 7- May
11, 2018
We are beginning our story, “Where Are
My Animal Friends?” in Reading.
Throughout this story, we will discuss what animals do when the seasons
change. As a class, we will also be
working on drawing conclusions from our text.
Our test for this story will be Monday, May 14th.
Our focus phonics skills for this
story are comparative endings –er, -est and the ending –dge. Our spelling words are: faster, fastest,
taller, tallest, shorter, shortest, sadder, saddest, bigger and biggest. Our challenge words include: “good-bye” and “before.” Our spelling test will also be on Monday,
May 14th.
We are beginning our new topic in Math
today! In Topic 10, we will be
discussing adding with tens and ones.
Since our school year is beginning to
wind down, we wanted to be sure to celebrate everyone’s birthday! Each of our summer month birthday kiddos were
assigned a “birthday day” during the month of May! I will send home a note with your child if
they are a June/ July/ August birthday, to let you know which day we will
celebrate them! If you would like to
send in cupcakes or cookies on your day, you are more than welcome! We have a total of 23 students in our
class!
