Weekly Newsletter for September
23-27, 2019
In
Reading, we will continue with our story, “Pig in a Wig.” We have discussed who helps animals and what
we could do to help animals! Our class
has also discussed the plot of the story!
The high frequency words for this story are: she, take, what and
up. Our test for this story will be
tomorrow, Tuesday, September 24th.
Our focus phonics
skills for this story are short I and consonant -x. Our spelling words are: six, lip, in, wig,
it, did, mix, sit, pin, and fix. Our
challenge words are “she” and “take.” Our
spelling test will also be tomorrow, Tuesday, September 24th.
In Math, we will
continue to discuss number lines! We
will also begin to talk about different ways to represent a number. For example: using tally marks, ten frames,
base-ten blocks, word form, drawing a picture, and a number sentence!
As a class, we love
to read and listen to stories! It is
very important that kids hear fluent reading and apply comprehension
strategies. One way we can practice
these skills is by having guest readers come into our classroom! If any parent/ grandparent/ guardian would
like to come into our classroom as a guest reader, please let me know by
writing me a note, email or Class Dojo message!
