Week of February 4-9, 2019

Weekly Newsletter for February 4- 8, 2019

            We will begin our new story, “Who Works Here?” in Reading this week!  We will discuss who works to make our community a nice place.  We will also discuss the Author’s Purpose of the story.  Our high frequency words are people, live, work, who, and out. 

            Our focus phonics skills for this story are the long I sound and digraphs wh, ch, tch, and ph.  Our spelling words are like, ride, smile, time, white, bike, dime, hide, ice and kite.  The challenge words are: “who” and “work.” 

            In Math, we will continue to work on identifying numbers that 1 more and 1 less and 10 more and 10 less.  We will continue to compare numbers by representing the given numbers with base ten blocks.  Our test for Unit 4 will be Thursday, February 7^th. 

            On Friday, February 15^th we will be having our Valentine’s Day party!  Students may bring in valentines/ treats for each student if you wish!  There are 19 students total in our class!  A list of names of the students in our class will be sent home this week! J

Attached you will find our February Scholastic Book order forms!  You may order online using our class code: MJJ8J or you may send in your book order with a check (Scholastic INC.).  All Scholastic Book orders are due Wednesday, February 13th.
